How secure is your cell phone?

By Mario A. Beroes R.- IT Business Solutions.
Even if you think you are safe, thanks to passwords and applications, your cell phone is not exempt from risks such as the spread of malware and other threats that also bombard users of these devices.
You have to take very much into account that iOS apps usually come from Apple’s official App Store and, although these must pass strict tests to be approved, you cannot guarantee any headaches related to security and privacy.
The recent EU antitrust law, known as the Digital Markets Act (DMA), seeks to give iOS users the option to use third-party app marketplaces. This will bring new challenges to companies that manufacture apps for any type of cell phone, such as Apple, Google and others.
This change in the rules of the game will undoubtedly be exploited by cybercrime, since in addition to the risks that could derive from compliance with the DMA, there are different types of threats, possibly more immediate, that target cell phone users such as jailbroken devices, malicious apps, app downloads from websites, the already known pishing and the risks when using public Wifi networks.

Minimizing threats
Among the main “tactics” to keep your phone device secure are the importance of keeping applications or iOS updated; using really secure passwords and, if possible, only one; being careful with pishing and avoiding public networks as much as possible.
Protecting your digital security
In an increasingly interconnected world, the security of our mobile devices is not optional, but a necessity, especially considering that these devices have become an indispensable tool in our daily lives.
Being informed and applying good practices can make the difference between keeping our data protected or falling into the traps of cybercrime. Technology advances, as do threats, but with prevention and precaution, we can minimize risks and enjoy a safer digital environment.
